What to expect
Some of us find it quite daunting going away and leaving our precious fur baby at home and in the care of someone else. A lot goes on to make sure your cat is well taken care of and this page explains what you can expect when you have me look after your cat while you’re away.
Before you go away
Let me know you’re going away
Get hold of me via phone, text, email or Facebook Messenger to let me know when you’re going away. Let me know as soon as you can even if you don’t have exact dates so that you’re penciled in.
Meet and greet
I will book an in-person meet and greet session with you close to when you go away. I will come to your home, meet you and your pets and learn where everything is and how you’d like your cats looked after. I’ll ask you to complete a consent form and for some contact details and information about your pet and your vet.
Getting access to your house
If you need to give me keys to your property, we will organise together a way to get the keys from you before you go away.
While you’re away
Your cats get a visit each day
From the date we agreed, I will begin visiting your cat at your house. If you’ve booked to have your pets visited twice-a-day they’ll get a visit some time before 10am and again some time after 4pm. If you’ve booked once-a-day visits, they’ll get a visit between 8am and 7pm.
Your cats will get their food replenished
I will feed your cats the way you’d like them fed and I also make sure they’re eating regularly. I will also administer any medications they might be on as well.
Fresh water in their bowl
Cats love fresh clean water to drink. I will replace their water each visit and give their bowl a clean when it needs it.
Love and attention
Most cats seem to miss their humans when you go away so if they’re around, I will give them as many rubs, scritches and cuddles as they want. As I’m doing this I’m also checking they’re behaving normally and aren’t unwell.
You receive a daily update about your cat
Every day I visit, you’ll get a update of how your cat is going, whether they’ve shown up, how much they’ve eaten and if they’re around, I’ll snap a photo or two and send them to you so you can have peace of mind that they’re safe and well.
Litter trays
I will clean up your cat’s litter trays so they have somewhere clean to do their business and replace the litter as it needs
Plants
I can water your indoor plants to keep them healthy
Fish
I can feed and check on your fish
I can check your letterbox and bring any mail for you inside.
Curtains
I can keep your house looking lived in while you’re away
When you get back home
I will email your invoice within a few days
Within a few days of getting home, I’ll email you the invoice for looking after your cat which I ask to be paid in 14 days.
Returning your keys
If I have been given keys to your house, you can choose to organise getting them back or if you prefer, you can leave them with me to make future visits easier to organise.
Your cat will be there to greet you
You’re the only one who went away, they were there hanging out the whole time. Most of my client’s cats are very happy to see their humans when they get back. They should be much more relaxed than if they were away from home at a cattery.
